Correlation of absolute chlorophyll content to the photosynthesis capacity under different management regimes in two wet grassland plants Carex canescens and Phalaris arundunacea.
Two wetland plants, Phalaris arundinacea and Carex canescens are grown in nutrient rich- and poor, as well as water saturated soils. In a mesocosm experiment, chlorophyll, photosynthesis, biomass and stem characteristics were monitored during the growing period to obtain information about their varying response to nutrient addition.

The head of the commission Prof Vácha welcomed the student Ms Adali, members of the committee, and guests. All committee members were present.
The student presented the theoretical background on the studied plants, parameters affecting photosynthesis, hypothesis, the experimental setup and the various measurements performed, methods used, and results.
The supervisor and the opponent presented their reviews and the student answered the questions and comments and further discussed various topics with the opponent.
Discussion with the commission members followed on the used calculated values of photosynthesis, the correlation of various parameters, the correlation of photosynthesis rate and the invasivity of plants, the number of replicates, the reason for different numbers of replicates and how the sampling times were chosen, nutrient content analysis, senescence of the leaves and density of plants effect on the results. Further, commission members commented on the charts and experimental design. The student answered all questions.
6x excellent, final - excellent
The commission suggested this thesis to be awarded by the head of the Department.
