Course content
Content of lectures: 1. Earth's climate system (formation of climate, natural factors, assignment of course output) 2. Causes of climate change (global warming, greenhouse gases, causes of increased emissions...) 3. The world in data ? working with climate data 4. Climate Development Scenarios, Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 5. Environmental policies in the field of climate change 6. Consequences and impacts of climate change, mitigation and adaptation measures in the residential area 7. Consequences and impacts of climate change, mitigation and adaptation measures in the field of agriculture 8. Consequences and impacts of climate change, mitigation and adaptation measures in the field of forestry 9. Consequences and impacts of climate change, mitigation and adaptation measures in the field of water management 10. Anthropocene: nature vs. society (introducing the concept of the Anthropocene, the Anthropocene hypothesis, the current paradigm, a new view of the Earth, systems thinking, ways to sustainability, social perception x social changes aimed at solving the negative consequences of global change, the rise of new paradigms?) 11. Impacts of modernity on society and nature (The lecture presents a sociological reflection of the consequences of industrialization and modernization for contemporary societies. It introduces the approaches of selected theorists of sociology from the classical period and the work of Karl Marx or Max Weber to contemporary authors dealing with the so-called second modernity such as Anthony Giddens or Ulrich Beck) 12. Representation of climate change in literature and film 13. Presentation of semester work, discussion by the teaching team Content of tutorials/seminar: The exercises will take place with regard to the topic of the lecture and will lead to the active involvement of students. Emphasis will be placed on the formulation of positions, interpretation of findings, leading the discussion. During the semester, the assigned topics of the semester work will also be consulted.

Learning outcomes
Students will understand the causes and consequences of climate change, they will learn to use the available information sources, data and critically evaluate them, learn to develop adaptation strategies.

Credit will be awarded for active participation during the semester and completion of ongoing activities. The condition for granting credit is 80% participation in the exercise. In order to pass the exam, students will present and discuss a semester's work (e.g. elaboration of the municipality's adaptation strategy).
