Course content
|
Content of lectures: Content of practices: 1. Aquatic insects (Plecoptera, Ephemeroptera, Odonata, Megaloptera, Coleoptera, Trichoptera, Hemiptera, Diptera). 2. Fishes. 3. Cyanobacteria and algae. 4. Macrophytes.

Learning outcomes
|
To demonstrate the main representatives of organisms inhabiting lotic and lentic freshwater ecosystems, to present methods of their collecting, sampling, preservation and determination. To present the biology of organisms, i.e. their mode of reproduction, ontogenesis, feeding biology, respiration, excretion, sensory organs and locomotion. To describe their bionomy and ecological niche in the ecosystem.
The course is led by professionals with practical experience.

Prerequisites
|
The course introduces the field hydrobiology practices and does not assume specific input knowledge. The tutors evaluate the shift of students' knowledge individually.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Student performance assessment, Systematic student observation, Test, Development of laboratory protocols
During the course, students prepare protocols. At the end of the course they write a test, which can be replaced by oral examintion.
