Course content
1) Aim of the field - elementary terms, types of restoration, restoration plan, restoration project, biological ideals vs. practical applications 2. (2) Restoration of selected disturbed sites (mainly sites disturbed by mining activities, traffic embankments and cuttings, military areas) - detailed presentation of case studies in the Czech Republic and comparison with the world 3. (3) Management of selected target species, groups, communities and habitats 4. (4) Legislative an socioeconomic aspects of restoration- legislative framework, decision-making processes, social and ecological sustainability of projects, costs and benefits of different restoration types (5) Presentations of students restoration proposals specified for given locality(restoration project, proposal of partial arrangements within the scope of collective restoration project ) Ecological restoration in practice: 3 all-day excursions (south Bohemia, prevailingly anthropogenically disturbed sites) and one half-day excursion (sedimentary basin). One of all-day excusions will be directed at locality chosen for practical restoration project proposal.

Learning outcomes
To present concrete projects of ecological restoration in the Czech Republic and compare them with examples in the world, demonstate legislative and socioeconomic aspects of restoration and provide possibility to prepare own restoration proposal designed for locality selected for given year.
Students obtain overview on the present state of the restoration practice in post-industrial sites including practical experience with restoration project proposal.

- students are obliged to visit excursions - project on ecological restoration (team work) - brief literature review focused on the topic of project - final presentation of project
