Learning outcomes
The course introduces the topic of biodiversity and its conservation in an interdisciplinary way, so that the student gains the necessary knowledge, understands the context, its importance, development, causes of change, risk factors and options for addressing the biodiversity crisis. Using ecological implications, we will use practical examples to show the problems facing organisms, populations and communities, the consequences of species extinction in today's changing landscapes and the reasons for these changes. The course will also include an introduction to nature conservation and field-based exercises to illustrate specific problems, prepared in collaboration with practitioners. Current legislative instruments at national and international level will also be mentioned.

It is obligatory to attend the excursions (one permitted absence). The examination will be based on the progress of the individual tasks set for the preparation of the excursion and the lectures (50% preparation for the excursion and 50% for the lectures). The examination comprises 50% of the assessment, with the remaining 50% distributed between the preparation for the excursion and the collection of personal data. The examination itself is divided into two parts: the first 50% is devoted to the completion of the individual project, while the second 50% is allocated to the presentation and discussion
