Course content
|
Content of practicals: Presentation of the findings of recent scientific research papers. Critical assessment of published results, methods and interpretations. The participants will have option to suggest particular papers and thus determine the thematic content of the seminars. The papers will be selected from following disciplines: human and animal behaviour, behavioural ecology, cognitive ethology, etc.

Learning outcomes
|
The seminar has a journal club form. The aim of the course is to broaden the range of scientific literature mainly with new studies for students who are interested in and develop their thesis in the real of behavioural sciences. The participants will learn how to analyze recent scientific findings, including identification of main hypothesis and critical assessment of results. They will also present and discuss their own opinion. The course is primarily intended for students of master and doctoral programs.
Student is able to read critically the published literature. Student is able to evaluate the adequacy of the design of the study against the stated objectives as well as the adequacy of the discussion of the results. The student will learn to present the scientific message so that he / she is able to select information essential for understanding of the study and passing the main conclusions.

Student performance assessment
presenting at least one scientific article, participating in the discussion when evaluating presentations of other participants
