Course content
Course objectives: The aim of the course is to introduce students to the topics and standards of current bioacoustics studies and affairs related to bioacoustics and vocal communication of animals including humans. Students will get practice in searching, understanding, and presenting scientific literature to scientific as well as general audience in Czech or English (depending on the presence of international students).

  • Class attendance - 26 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 40 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the topics and standards of current bioacoustics studies and affairs related to bioacoustics and vocal communication of animals including humans. Students will get practice in searching, understanding, and presenting scientific literature to scientific as well as general audience in Czech or English (depending on the presence of international students).
Students will get overview of current topics in bioacoustic research.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites, preconditions: The course does not assume any previous knowledge and there are no mandatory or recommended prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Seminar work, Interim evaluation

To participate actively during the course classes (reading assigned papers, active discussion during classes). Presentation of the selected paper to the peers (usually twice per semester) and to general public (writing a popularization article).
