Course content
Content of lectures: Methods and history of research in primatology. Characteristics of primates. Phylogeny and fossil evidence. Prosimians. New World monkeys. Old World monkeys. Apes. Social and mating systéme. Ecology: distribution and diet. Primate conservation.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Projection, Work with multi-media resources (texts, internet, IT technologies)

Learning outcomes
The main aim of the course is to introduce the diverse group of primates. The main area sof interest will be taxonomy, phylogeny end ekology.
The student will be acquainted with the species richness and evolution of the primate group. He/she is able to evaluate different specific adaptations in the context of other groups of mammals as well as in the context of human evolution.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test

Successful passing a written test of at least 50% of the total score. Preparation and creation of a presentation in a joint project.
