Course content
|
Field trapping techniques. Osteology and dentition of small mammals. Osteology and dentition of large mammals. Dissection of small and large mammals. Hearing apparatus and dissection of middle ear bones. Morphology of penis, baculum and its dissection. Winter census of bats. Field methods used to study large mammals in the national park Šumava.

Learning outcomes
|
To adopt both practical and teoretical skills and methods of studying free-living mammals. To familiarise with their anatomy with focus on special mammalian characteristics.
A graduate should be able to carry out standard mammalogical work both in the field and in a lab from trapping, measuring to dissection.
