Course content
Content of lectures: Feeding ecology (OFT) - Bird colonies - Social mating systems I (from monogamy to polygynandry) - Social mating systems II (EPC, CBP, sex ratio) - Nest parasitism (co evolution) - reproductive tactics (LTRS and optimizing) - Territory defence - Behaviour during migration - Song activity - Mobbing - Predation - Ecological traps - Mate choice - Temperate vs. tropical birds

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Preparation for classes - 60 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 30 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course deals with detailed aspects of avian ecology (nesting biology, territorial behaviour, optimization of reproduction, migration, etc.). During the course are demonstrated modern methods used for research of avian ecology.
Participants will enhance their knowledge on bird ecology. The course is suitable for students with interest to study bird behavioural ecology.
