Course content
|
Content of practicals: Students are able to observe fauna and flora in shallow waters during snorkeling, including representatives of marine algae and plants, invertebrates ("Porifera", Cnidaria, Ctenophora, Gastropoda, Bivalvia, Cephalopoda, Crustacea, Echiura, Ectoprocta, Echinodermata, Tunicata), and vertebrates (Chondrichthyes, Osteichthyes). Fauna from deeper waters is sampled by scuba divers and shown ashore. Dissections of selected species are demonstrated and then individually practicised.

Learning outcomes
|
To demonstrate the diversity of marine organisms - algae, plants, invertebrates and vertebrates, together with the basic differences in morpholgy, anatomy and ecology of the selected groups and the general functioning of marine ecosystem. The course is held alternately in the Mediterranean and Red Sea.
