Course content
Notice: this is a management course, which is appropriate for students who intend to be involved in management in organizations. Content of lectures: Strategic management in general, other levels of management and classification of IS/IT within the organisation management IS/IT strategic management frameworks Information and managerial decision-making Strategic analysis of IS/IT Designing the IS/IT strategy Implementation of the IS/IT strategy Tools in IT management - ITIL and others Managing software projects from the non-IT management perspective: waterfall and agile models Content of practicals: Presentation for students. Making either team or individual work - strategic analysis and strategy design in an organisation.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Project-based learning
  • Class attendance - 30 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 20 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 25 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The students will try to perform strategic analysis and design strategic management in an organisation of their choice. The lectures, self-study and creating the strategic document will familiarise students with managerial decision-making and strategic management of IS/IT in organizations.

Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic economic principles, analytical thinking, basic awareness of information systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar work

Student will perform strategic analysis and design strategic IS/IT goals in an organisation of their choice. For this reason, student should choose such organisation and arrange an adequate access to information about the organisation. It is ideal when an agreement is made with the organisation management and the work can be done in cooperation with the organisation.
