Course content
1. What is the diploma thesis? Choice of topic. 2. Sources of information. Determination of research goals, problems, hypotheses. 3. Methodology of science, scientific methods and work methodology. 4. Basics of statistical analysis. 5. Methodology of data collection. 6. Formal and content page of the scientific text. 7. Scientific ethics, citation standard and bibliographic records. 8. Presentation of the results of the professional work. 9. Methodological instructions for writing the final thesis at the Faculty of Science.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Work with text (with textbook, with book)
  • Class attendance - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 5 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 15 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Subject dedicated to the preparation of final theses. The student will get information on how to correctly write the final thesis. They will get acquainted with the principles of searching literature, writing a professional text, citing used literature and other sources and elaboration of the work assignment. To deepen knowledge in the field of methodology and methodical elaboration of diploma thesis. The course is intended to lead students to a systematic approach to writing their diploma, bachelor thesis, scientific approach and observance of formal requirements.
General competencies:   - Skills related to the use and processing of information - Problem solving ability - Ability to work independently - Basic general knowledge Industry-specific competencies:   - Ability to select a specific topic and area of research solved subsequently in the diploma thesis - The student is able to determine the aim of the work and appropriate methods - The student can correctly structure a larger scientific text - The student will acquire knowledge about the process of creating scientific texts - The student knows the typographic rules and other principles of graphic design of the final thesis
Prerequisites
The basic prerequisite is an awareness of the topic of the final thesis, which the student has chosen or has already chosen for the elaboration and subsequent defense.

Assessment methods and criteria
Essay

Participation in seminars, formulation of goals, elaboration of the outline of the thesis and overview of recommended literature in the form of theses. Students regularly consult their work with the supervisor of their work. Presentation and successful defense of the thesis according to the requirements and instructions of the thesis supervisor. Credit is awarded by the teacher of this course, but only after the official elaboration of the assignment.
