Course content
|
Content of lectures: Lectures will be organized in two sections: Introduction to metabolomics. Metabolomics as a part of systems biology, analytical strategies in metabolomics - sample preparation, biological materials, instrumental analysis, data processing tools, metabolite databases, metabolic pathways, metabolomics of biofluids. Chemometrics-informatics in metabolomics: univariate sample, relationships between continuous variable and a set of discrete variables, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, relationships between continuous variables, relationships between continuous dependent variable and a matrix of continuous independent variables, linear regression, relationships between continuous dependent variable and a set of continuous and discrete independent variables, relationships between discrete dependent variable and a set of continuous and discrete independent variables, relationships between discrete variables, multivariate methods, principal component analysis, factor rotation, cluster analysis, software tools for chemometrics a metabolomics - Excel, Statgraphics, Statistica, NCSS, SIMCA; practical applications of chemometric/informatic tools in metabolomics.
