Course content
Content of lectures: 1. Sound, human hearing, essential principles 2. Audio engineering. Acoustic signal, frequency broadbans. 3. Signal parameters, frequency and time analysis, Fourier Transformation (FT), Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT) 4. Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT), Wavelets, signal parametrization 5. Sound, music, signal processing 6. Sound analog to digital (AD) conversion, AD convertors, sound recordings, signal compression. 7. Sound studio equipment, Diital Audio Workstation (DAW), DAW softwares, MIDI, VST. 8. Workflow into the sound studio, mixing console, sound processing equipments connecting 9. Video equipment: Video signal, human eye, digital TV, MPEG-2 definition, broadband, multiplex, TV chain. 10. TV device principles, CRT, LCD, plasma, Dolby-SR, Digital Surround. 11. Video and sound signal compression, JPEG, TIFF, RAW, MPEG-4, AVI, DivX. 12. Recording media: analog and digital information 13. Reserve Content of tutorials/seminar: Aim of tutorials are combine theoretical and practical parts of sound and video signal processing. Students are divided to Workgroups. Theoretical parts focus on FT and signal parametrization. Practical parts focus on mixing console control and using.

Aim of the course is to introduce students into fundamentals of audio and video technology, signal recording, processing and data storage.
