Learning outcomes |
The subject provides knowledge of the theory and practice of operating systems. In the theoretical part, the student gets to know the principles of modern operating systems and their historical development. In the practical part, the student will learn about specific operating systems, their installation and administration, and the basics of scripting in the command line (shell). The student must independently handle some tasks associated with the work of an information system administrator.
The student acquires a basic idea of the recent elemental operating systems of Windows and Linux. The student will learn how to administrate and adapt these systems and acquire knowledge and abilities for the administration of a company network. |

Assessment methods and criteria |
Test, Seminar work
Credit Requirements: Active participation at seminars (80%). Working on short, dated tasks (min 65%). Passing a written test. Exam requirements: During the exam, students will demonstrate knowledge of the principles of operating systems and their management. |
