Course content
|
Contents of the course: 1. History of development methodologies and trends 2. Overview of the different methodologies, standards, principles 3. The life cycle of IS development 4. Business models, their interaction with applications 5. Overview of methodologies for the analysis of the different approaches 6. BSP (Business System Planning), principles and procedures 7. Methods of information analysis 8. Object modeling and OO principles, UML tools 9. Functional analysis and description of data structures 10. Dynamic models and model management 11. The consistency of the model, the principles of standardization in the data model 12. Meta-modeling, BPM, an overview of CASE tools 13. Project management tools and management of IS / IT, market trends of CASE and modeling tools.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to give students an overview of advanced principles, methodologies and methods of analysis, design and planning of IS. To give an overview of appropriate tools and to practice their use (e.g. CASE tools such as Enterprise Archtect), to practice teamwork in IS development and thus to create conditions for the managing of some project IS / IT using advanced design methods and tools. Students should be able to analyze the business need for the development of respective information system, to perform reengineering of business processes, they should be able to engage in their respective roles in projects of various types of IS development.

Overview of basic UML modeling techniques in the scope of Designing Information Systems I.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Combined exam, Seminar work
Students have to develop several homeworks and work up a final project.
