Course content
Topics: - Basic concepts, history, SGML, XML - XML syntax - Document structure - DTD schema definition document - further style languages - Documents formatting - XPath and XSLT languages - Query languages over XML - links creation (XPath, XPointer, XLink) - applications using XML - Creation of web pages using XML - Technologies based on XML - DocBook

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Laboratory, E-learning
  • Preparation for credit - 23 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The aim is to teach students the basic knowledge with the help of markup languages, especially XML. Students learn how to use these technologies by making and managing documents and their contents and during communication and data exchanging in web and desktop applications.
Students understand the basic concepts of XML. They can use the file format for communication, manipulation and data processing and use them in web and desktop applications.
Prerequisites
The subject has no prerequisities.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Test, Seminar work

Programming partial short tasks, project application creating. General success rate minimally 65 %. Passing a written credit test.
