Course content
Seminars: 1. Education and learning; 2. Language of comparing and contrasting; 3. Innovation in health and medicine; 4. Rephrasing, developing a paragraph; 5. Water, food, and energy; 6. Introductions and conclusions; 7. Free trade and fair trade; 8. Presenting arguments; 9. Wonders of modern world; 10. Word-building, avoiding plagiarism; 11. Trends, graphs, charts, and statistics; 12. Communication and technology; 13. Interpreting and translating, preparing notes; 14. Final test - abstract

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to develop skills mainly in written technical texts. The focus of the course lies in active mastering the technique of composition of technical text via particular exercises, such as: selecting and processing of information, building of paragraph, structure of a text and logical sequence of its parts abstract, summary, work with quotations, language of graphs, charts, and statistics, argumentation ,exact choice of lexis, formal and informal vocabulary.
Students master building up of technical texts.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of secondary school grammar and vocabulary needed for passing the school-leaving exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test

Credit Requirements: Obtaining at least 60% in each of two tests.
