Course content
Lectures: Introduction to the spa and wellness industry - basic theoretical terms. History of spa and wellness. Spa services and Spa facilities (character and division of spa services and facilities) Specific aspects of spa care and economic benefits. Association and organization in field of spa Management of spa facility Wellness as a life style in relationship to the tourism. Management of wellness facility Market of Spa and wellness services. Importance of spa and wellness for selected customer segments. Legislation and condition for business in spa and wellness services Marketing of spa and wellness services Spa and wellness as a tourism destination product Climatic spa (green spa) Seminars: Introduction, requirements. Management of spa facility Specifics of spa in European countries (students´ presentation).

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is clarifying the importance of spa and wellness in tourism and professional preparation of students for a future work in the branch of spa and wellness services.
Students understand to basic processes in spa and wellness and another aspect of providing of spa and wellness care. Students are able to evaluate provided spa and wellness care and they are able to orient in field of spa and wellness services.
Prerequisites
Student should have knowledge of CR1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Seminar work

Credit Requirements: A) Active participation on seminars (max 1 absence) B) Presentation of seminar work. Submission of seminar work in electronic form (DOC) in e-learning MOODLE. Requirements on seminar work is specified in e-learning MOODLE. Exam Requirements: Test in volume of basic literature and information on e-learning MOODLE (10 questions, min 60% points is needed).
