Environmental Policy in the Czech Republic - Past and Present 4. Environmental Policy in the European Union 5. Comparison of development and approaches to environmental policy in the European Union and the US 6. Environmental policy by branch Transportation 7. Environmental policy by branch Energetics 8. Environmental policy by branch Agriculture 9. Environmental policy by branch Waste management 10. Environmental Policy according to environmental segments (water, soil, air, climate) 11. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to show the possibilities of integrating the environmental dimension into economic decision-making at the level of ministries and regional authorities. Students have the opportunity to look at environmental policy from an economic perspective. What are the practical economic tools, their history, the way and the effectiveness of application in the case of the required ecological form of behavior. The course gradually deals with the broader context of the general development of the issue of relations between ecological policy and economics, up to the practical solution of problems through economic policy and economic instruments of the EU and the Czech Republic.
Students will understand the basic principles of the economic approach in relation to the environment. Students will be able to apply economic instruments for environmental protection and use the methodology for valuing environmental resources in practical cases based on the profit analysis. Students should understand the difference between the environmentalism and environmental policy and decide on solutions of environmental conflicts by political decision making, legal or economic tools or negotiation.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Seminar work

Credit requirements: Conditions for granting the credit: elaboration of 1 seminary work. In the seminar work should be evident continuity of the subject matter of lectures in connection with the practical focus of the student. The seminary work should have 8 pages. Examination Requirements: During the exam, students demonstrate knowledge of environmental policy and economic tools to protect the environment. The total grade is based on the results of the seminar papers, the exam test and the oral exam.
