Course content
Suggested topics of consultations: 1. The state, territory and political decision-making; 2. Geopolitics, international political regions; 3. Central Europe as a transnational region; 4. The center and periphery in Czech (Czechoslovak) policy; 5. The territorial government, the political process at sub- national levels; 6. Regional and local electoral systems; 7. Regional and local party systems; 8. EU and regional development of the Czech political parties; 9. Rural representation as a political problem; 10. Political discourse on rural development.

Learning outcomes
The goal is to make students familiar with political aspects of regional development. It is focused on three issues: 1. relations between states and regions, international political regions and their structures, regional cooperation in Central Europe, a regional development in the context of globalization and European integration; 2. The relationship between regional development and democratic process, questions of legitimating and changes in decision-making mechanisms, characteristics of regional political parties and other actors of regional development; 3. regional development and decentralization of public administration, regional development and transformation of European administrative space.

Prerequisites
Examination in Politics or Politics of rural space.

Oral examination

Examination Requirements: The study of literature, a literature review process to the selected topic, a case study.
