Course content
Lectures 1. Introduction to the subject, the most important definitions The most important terms: transport, transportation, types of transport 2. History of transport. Development of transport in the EU and the Czech Republic. Types of transport Historical development of transport, development of transport networks, classification of European transport networks 3. Transport policy The White Paper, the future of transport. Transport and the environment. Transport and robotics. 4. Management of rail transport Rail transport management, rail transport network, rail transport organization 5. Management of road transport Organization of road transport, road network, road classification 6. Management of inland waterways and maritime transport Organization of water transport, lines, XXXX, inland transport in the Czech Republic and EU, ports 7. Air transport management Air traffic organization airports and terminals 8. Other types of transport, Unconventional transport, traffic-calming, 9. Management of public transport Organization of public transport, transport means in public transport, 10. Integrated transport systems ITS management and administration, ITS organization in the Czech Republic and the EU, two- and three-level ITS model 11. Dispatcher management Dispatching, freight and passenger traffic management, specifics of dispatch management 12. City logistics, smart city Transport in the cities, unnecessary transport, necessary transport, transport organization in the towns, smart cities 13. Principles of transport financing Financing of passenger transport, Transport in public service obligation, subsidies and support of transport 14. Field trip to a sample transport company (ČD, DP Č. Budějovice, GW Bus, GW Train regio) Subject seminars. Field trip seminar. Three-day transport course. A three-day trip to the South Moravian Region takes place. Transport Organization in IDS JMK (Integrated Transport System of the South Moravian Region), Organic Transport in the Moravian Karst. Possibility to visit the logistics centre of ČSAD Hodonín in Brno and a field trip to the airport in Brno Tuřany

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to introduce the most important issues of passenger and freight transport in the Czech Republic and in relation to the EU. The subject mostly discusses road transport and it also deals with rail, air and water traffic, and the influence of the traffic to the environment.
The subject deals with passenger and freight transport in the Czech Republic and in the EU. Its aim is to introduce an overview of the different modes of transport, the use of transport networks and their links with the EU countries and the management of transport companies. The students will be introduced to basic transport problems. Students will also acquire knowledge about designing transport networks in transport enterprises. At the same time, this knowledge will be complemented by the necessary assessment of some negative impacts of transport on the environment and the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution on transport.
Prerequisites
TThe course of Transport management has no prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, Seminar work

Credit requirements: Writing and submitting an essay. Exam requirements: Oral examination + written test. Obtaining at least 70% of the test points.
