Course content
The course emphasizes the introduction of theories of management of organizational systems, especially using a systems approach. The course also deals with key areas of business management such as strategic management, human resource management, value management, quality management and business process management. These disciplines are built on advanced approaches and methods with an emphasis on their interrelationship to form a comprehensive system applicable to business management. Course content: - Theory of management of organizational systems Management Theory. Management as information action (control, control regulation). Management as an activity. Management process (stages of the management process, management cycle). Time factor in the management process. Systemic concept of management. Organisational system (sub-systems and their orders according to the distinctive level, areas and processes of the organisational system and its behaviour). Organisational architecture from a systems perspective. System dynamics. - Strategic management Dynamic strategy. Strategic agility. Business ecosystems. Strategic management system based on advanced BSC (dynamic BSC). Methodological procedures for creating performance indicators (KPIs). Extension of the Business Model methodology in relation to strategic management methods. Potential in the context of market balance. Strategic management of corporate performance in the context of globalization, digitalization, Industry 4.0. - Human resource management Theories and models of human resource management. Human resource management system and architecture. Human resource management and organizational performance. Motivation theory. Directions for advanced human resource management: knowledge management, talent management, diversity management, age management, learning organizations, corporate social responsibility. - Value management, quality management Definition of customer value. Theory of function and value. Methods of value management. Lean management methods. Advanced quality management methods. Theory of constraints. - Business process management (BPM) BPM as a business management concept. Methodological apparatus of BPM. Process modelling (Network diagrams, Petri nets), methods for assessing process capability and performance, simulation in BPM. - Research methodology in management, qualitative research in management Research design in management. Research methods in management and their application. The essence of methodological approaches of different development directions in management. Qualitative research in management, data collection in qualitative research, analysis and presentation of qualitative data in management.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce, discuss and learn contemporary management theories and develop the ability to apply business research methods used in the analysis of companies and their management. In the current era of rapidly developing globalised markets, increased customer demands, the advent of process management, digitalisation and the introduction of the Industry 4.0 concept, business management is based on a complex approach characterised by an understanding of the interconnectedness of the relationships between the differentiated parts of managed systems as well as the phenomena that take place within them. In achieving and maintaining the competitiveness of enterprises and the development of organisations, managers cannot do without knowledge and mastery of management theories, strategic management methods, evaluation of market potential and added value for customers, business process management methods and others.
In the Management course, students will learn a systems approach to managing organisations, advanced methods in particular areas of management and key methodological practices of business research. Students will be able to independently conduct research in the field of management and actively use its individual methodological tools, including their modifications. Students will learn about contemporary trends in management, including the Industry 4.0 concept and its relevance to business management.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Seminar work

Credit requirements: Preparation of a seminar project, where the chosen management concept will be elaborated in relation to the topic of the dissertation. The output is a literature review, which is complemented by the thesis itself, in which the results of the implemented research (own research) on the selected issue are presented. The seminar project corresponds to the requirements set for scientific papers. The length of the text is up to 20 pages. Examination requirements: Study and mastery of the thematic areas. Defence of the seminar project. In the examination itself, the student will present the submitted project, which will be debated. This will be followed by an examination of knowledge of the selected topics of the course.
