Course content
Lectures: 1. EU and Czech policy to support rural development in the context of human resources and innovation. 2. Strategic evaluation of rural development. 3. Globalization, regionalization and cultural aspects of micro-, meso- and macro-space. 4. Rural development, sustainable development, quality of life and human resources. 5. Promoting quality of life in rural areas. 6. Human resources management and multilevel government. 7. Diversification in rural areas and creation of new jobs. 8. Human resources management in business entities in relation to the region. 9. Creation of jobs - family farms. 10. The specifics of managing family businesses and farms in the process of change and innovation. 11. Rural development cooperation - micro-regions and local action groups. 12. Human resources development through EU funds. 13. Opportunities and funding of rural development and innovation activities. 14. Projects in rural development.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
The subject introduces the economic, social and environmental aspects of rural development, sustainable development, quality of life, human resources, link to agricultural policy in the context of globalization, regionalization and cultural aspects related to the EU and CR policies, forms of support for rural development. The methods of rural development assessment, demographic change, migration, transport accessibility and serviceability, economic structure are discussed. The students learn about creativity in finding ways to create, diversify and restructure businesses, innovative and entrepreneurial activities, job creation, management specificities in the process of change and innovation in business and non-business entities. They gain knowledge about human resource management, human potential development in municipalities, social communication skills applied to community development, cooperation within local groups, associations, and clusters.
The students will understand rural development in the context of human resources and innovation.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test

Credit requirements: A written essay and its presentation Exam: Written test (success rate 75%); the quality of the essay and the power point presentation will be taken into account during the oral exam.
