Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the subject, requirements of the subject. 2. Importance of quality. 3. Concepts and principles of quality management. 4. Quality management concept based on ISO standards. 5. Quality Management Concept based on TQM. 6. Top management in quality systems. 7. Quality Economics. 8. Quality in pre-production stages. 9. Quality in production. 10. Quality in post-production stages. 11. Human factor in quality systems. 12. Methods of quality improvement. 13. Audits. 14. Environmental management systems. Practical classes: 1. Importance of quality and quality management systems in manufacturing plants, basic concepts, ISO standards. 2. Discussion related to the essays. 3. Lecture and discussion with quality professionals, FMEA method. 4. Excursion. 5. Lecture and discussion with a representative of the Czech Society for Quality. 6. Presentation of the essays. 7. Environmental management systems. Final summary of findings.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to clarify the importance of quality in the market environment and to introduce quality management systems, both in pre-production, production and post-production stages. Attention is also paid to the human factor in quality management systems.
The subject of quality management introduces both the importance of quality products for strengthening the competitiveness of enterprises and modern quality management systems to the students of the Faculty of Economics.

No special prerequisites are required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test

Credit requirements: An essay focusing on the quality of a sample enterprise. Credit test: test questions, questions open. Success rate - 60%. Exam requirements: Exam: test questions, questions open. Success rate - 60%. Oral exam: Knowledge of the study support and the lectures.
