Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is the orientation in different varieties of the German language, and their differences in the lexicon (German, Austrian and Swiss variety), with a consequent enlargement of the student's ability to understand texts realized just on the base of different varieties of German.
- The student can describe the individual historical stages of the development of the German language - The student can distinguish between German-speaking regions from past periods and the present - The student describes the standard varieties of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, their basic characteristics, and the most important differences - The student names other German varieties - The student can describe individual varieties in terms of morphology, syntax, and lexicon - The student understands and describes the development of standard varieties of German with a view to the future

Prerequisites
|
Passing of the course assumes completed Bachelor's degree study of the German language (or in the German language) and language level B2-C1 of the CEFR.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills, Test
Test. Regular preparation of students to seminars, active participation in seminars. Performance of continuously input tasks. Attendence to the seminars 80%.
