Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the specifics of German professional language and broaden in that way their language competence. The aim of this course is therefore to point out the specific features of the German vocational language, namely on a background of standard German, with the involvement of the German corpus (IDS) and parallel corpora (Intercorp) into teaching.
- the student explains the basic concepts of specialized language and professional communication and distinguishes them from the perspective of functional stylistics - the student describes the horizontal and vertical organization of specialized languages - the student identifies and characterizes text types in specialized language - the student analyzes the morphosyntactic features of German specialized language - the student applies knowledge of word formation and specialized terminology when working with professional texts - the student interprets the lexical features of specialized language, including precision, terminological norms, and corpus work - the student explains the structure of specialized texts (macro- and microstructure), professional discourse, and its functioning in interaction and lexicography

Prerequisites
|
Passing of the course assumes completed Bachelor's degree study of the German language (or in the German language) and proficiency level B2/C1 of the CEFR.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination, Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills
Presentation of the particular topic, written exam. Active participation on the classwork, working on the continuously given tasks, individual solving of chosen problems.
