Learning outcomes
The aim of this translation seminar is to acquaint students with the nature of German professional texts, first in comparison with the language of everyday general communication, then directly with a focus on the specifics of the language of economics, law and administration. The course should provide students with basic translation procedures and strategies, various ways of searching and checking the correctness of the translation, the aim is not least a systematic expansion of vocabulary for the given areas in both languages (German and Czech).
After completing the course, students will have knowledge that they can use appropriately in the translation of professional text, and will know the methods and procedures that will be used in the transfer of professional information in the relationship Czech - German / German - Czech. Students will be able to search for professional information, effectively use parallel texts and professional terminological glossaries and will be able to use these materials in the development of their professional vocabulary.

Knowledges of German Language: B2

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Analysis of student's language skills, Interim evaluation

Student requirements - active participation in the seminar (attendance 80%) - processing of continuously entered translations - home preparation for teaching, research of professional topics - elaboration of a credit translation and defense of selected translation solutions
