Course content
Basic thematic areas: 1. Introduction, overview of topics 2. The political system of Germany 3. Germany and its economic power 4. Germany in Europe and its neighbors 5. German Society between Multiculturalism and Provinciality 6. The political system of Austria 7. Austria internationally: between the economy and neutrality 8. The Austrian Society between Internationality and the Alpine Longevity? 9. Austria and its neighbors 10. The political system and culture of Switzerland 11. Switzerland and Europe: isolation or global player? 12. Comparison of three countries: strengths and weaknesses in politics, economy and society 13. Germany, Austria and Switzerland: Developments in the near future 14. Conclusion

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Work with text (with textbook, with book)
Learning outcomes
Mediation of current discussions in German-speaking countries at various media levels; analyzing and questioning different opinions according to the opinion, political, media spectrum; to have a separate discussion on these current issues, especially in relation to the Czech Republic.
Students will achieve a survey on facts and matters of the german speaking countries (political system, culture, manners)
Prerequisites
Subejct will be taught in german language, on the level of B2

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills, Test

Active participation in the seminar, fulfillment of continuously assigned tasks, attendance at the seminar 80%. Regular preparation for seminars, active participation of the student at the seminar and written test. The course will be taught in German.
