Course content

Learning outcomes
The seminar will cover the main schools of literary theory in the 20th century to the present and how their methods and concepts can be applied to literary works. The seminar will emphasise the use of literary theory in the interpretation of particular works, and support the students' individual research. The first part of the seminar will be devoted to the main critical schools of the 20th and 21st centuries.The second part of the seminar will be devoted to the discussion of particular theories in chosen literary works, and finally students will be asked to present the theoretical perspectives in their own research projects in class, followed by general discussion.

Prerequisites
Students should be able to read literary and theoretical texts in English and have fluent spoken English and writing skills. Students are also expected to have basic knowledge in literary study and perform literary analysis.
