Victorian poetry: the work of G. M. Hopkins and A. Lord Tennyson 5. The late-Victorian novel: the work of T. Hardy 6. Victorian drama: the work of O. Wilde 7. The work of J. Conrad as a transition between the tradition of the Victorian novel and Modernism 8. English Modernism: the work of J. Joyce 9. English Modernism: the work of V. Woolf 10. English Modernism: the work of T. S. Eliot 11. English novel between the world wars: the work of G. Greene 12. Angry Young Men: the work of K. Amis 13. Conclusion
