Course content
1. Definition and periodisation of the Bronze Age, history of the research, basic literature. 2. Economy of the Bronze Age: climate, agriculture, production, trade. 3. Social relations in the Bronze Age. 4. Religion and arts in the Bronze Age. 5. The Bronze Age in Egeis and Balkans. 6. The Bronze Age in northern and eastern Europe. 7. The Bronze Age in western and southern Europe. 8. The Bronze Age in central Europe: Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia. 9. Beginning of the Bronze Age and Early Bronze Age in ČR and South Bohemia 10. Transition from the Early to the Middle Bronze Age in ČR and South Bohemia. 11. Middle Bronze Age in ČR and South Bohemia. 12. Late Bronze Age in ČR and South Bohemia. 13. Final Bronze Age in ČR and South Bohemia. 14. Transition from the Bronze Age to Iron Age in Central Europe.

Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to familiarize of students with the basic attributes of development in the Bronze Age in European, Czech and regional context. The course is constituted by 3 consequent blocks: in the first one, the general characteristic of the Bronze Age will be presented, in the second one, the situation in individual European countries will be discussed, and in the third one, the resources of the Bronze Age in Bohemia will be presented. In the course the students will be familiarize with the basic literature, chronology and periodisation of this epoch, with archaeological data as well as with concrete examples of material culture in the Bronze Age.
Students become basic information about the Bronze Age in Europe and in Bohemia with the respect to South Bohemia.
Prerequisites
A knowledge of history on high-school education level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Written examination. The presence at the seminars is obligated - the condition for the credits is the presentation of seminar-work and active participation on discussions.
