Course content
1. Definition of prehistory, of the Early Middle Age and archaeology. Archaeological resources and basic archaeological methods. 2. Human development. Early and Middle Palaeolithic. 3. Late Palaeolithic and Mesolithic. 4. Neolithic. 5. Copper Age. 6. Early and Middle Bronze Age. 7. Urnfield Period. 8. Early Iron Age. 9. La Téne-period. 10. Romans in the central Europe. 11. Roman Age - the Germans. 12. Migration Period 13. Arrival of Slavs and beginning of the Early Middle Age. 14. Epoch of the Great Moravia.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
Learning outcomes
Identification with the archaeology and its resources and methodology. Basic summary of the individual development-stages of prehistory and early Middle Age (till the beginning of 10th century AD) in Europe, ČR and in South Bohemia. Completed with the summary of the basic literature and the main sites in Bohemia and South-Bohemia.
Students become basic summary of the individual development-stages of prehistory and early Middle Age in Europe and in Bohemia with the respect to South Bohemia as far as the basic information about archaeology and its methodology.
Prerequisites
A knowledge of history on high-school education grade.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Student performance assessment

Active participation on discussions in the lessons; running complement of knowledge about the scientific literature and discussed topics.
