Course content
1. Modality of phrase. 2. Compound sentences. 3. Subordination and coordination. 4. Functional sentence perspective.

Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to present to the students the basis of the syntax of compound sentences of the French language from theoretical and practical perspective, confrontation of different approaches to syntactic descriptions. The relation between clauses will be analyzed also from the pragmatic point of view. Practice of syntactic phenomena. Comparison of Czech and French syntactic structures. Students will also learn to exploit electronic corpora (Frantext, InterCorp, FrWac).
Students will understand the relations within complex sentences and apply them in analysis. Součástí aktivit v semináři bude i práce s elektronickými korpusy (Frantext, InterCorp, FrWac).
