Learning outcomes
The course builds on previous knowledge of morphology. It provides a comprehensive overview of interpropositional syntax at both the theoretical and practical levels. Emphasis is placed on classifying relationships in coordinate clauses, types of subordinate clauses, and the use of verb tenses and moods. It includes a contrastive view of the classification of interpropositional relationships and the use of verb tenses and moods in Spanish and Czech.
Students will understand the relationships between sentence constituents and be able to consider the possibilities offered by different theories for their description and apply them in analysis. Learning outcomes: (a) The student forms grammatically correct sentences using appropriate conjunctions and verb forms. (b) The student names and explains syntactic functions at the level of simple sentences and compound sentences. (c) The student names and explains types of coordinate and subordinate clauses on authentic language material. (d) The student describes the differences between intersentential relationships in Spanish and Czech.
