Learning outcomes
|
The main objective of the course is to provide students with a theoretical overview of semantics (its relationship to other linguistic disciplines, language as a system of signs, meaning and relationship between semantics and syntax) and lexicology (structure of word, principles of word formation, etc.). An important component of the course is also an introduction to modern computational tools, such as electronic dictionaries (Petit Robert, TLF) and large synchronic corpora (Frantext, InterCorp, FrWaC, etc.).
- The student demonstrates a command of word-formation processes in modern French. - The student describes semantic relationships in modern French vocabulary. - The student explains the specific features of the French lexical system in comparison with Czech.
