Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the basic topics of lexicology and semantics with respect to the specifics of the Spanish language. The lectures are designed to introduce students to the theoretical background of the observed phenomena, which are then analyzed in seminars. In this way, students gain a theoretical insight into semantics and lexicology. At the same time, through rich linguistic material, students are guided to deepen the lexical competence of the foreign language user. By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze a text semantically and lexically with insight into theoretical concepts.
After completing the course the student will understand the basic topics of this discipline (see objectives and content). In the context of the of the above mentioned requirements, students will also be able to apply this knowledge to specific language materials, and to think about certain phenomena with the help of specialized literature (reading). Due to teaching in Spanish and working with linguistic material, the student deepens his / her lexical competence (at B2, C1 and C2 levels - see the vocabulary in Plan Curricular del Instituto Cervantes).
Prerequisites
No special prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Student performance assessment

To successfully complete this subject, it is necessary to meet the following conditions: 1. Active participation in seminars. Three absences are tolerated. 2. Individual continuous preparation and completion of assigned independent tasks in Moodle. Results of some pre-announced assignments may be added to the exam grade. 3. The final oral exam. Students who are enrolled in a course for a second time do not have to attend lectures and seminars again, especially if the course overlaps with another course. However, I strongly recommend that you follow the content updates for the academic year and keep up with the assignments given in the seminars. All students may take advantage of tutorial sessions to clarify any ambiguities in the material covered in lectures and seminars. Dates of credits and examinations will be announced in the examination period according to the JU Faculty of Arts timetable. Requirements for JU students participating in the Erasmus+ programme (learning mobility or internship), for whom this course cannot be recognised as another course taken at a foreign university: 1) Self-study of the material covered in class, including the completion of all assignments given in the Moodle system. 2) Final oral examination after returning from the placement/internship (within the deadline set by the timetable for the given AR).
