Learning outcomes
The material of music, television performances, concerts, films and the media image provided by David Bowie's work and career will be used to reflect in detail on the three categories mentioned in the title in terms of their productive use for the interpretation of the material of modern culture. Thus, the focus will partly be on Bowie's music itself in terms of development and in terms of genre categories and transformations, but the primary focus of the course is not on the aural (music and song lyrics) but on the visual material in terms of the repertoire of visual studies, with an emphasis on the three concepts in the course subtitle, and the goal of the seminar is the acquired ability to use these concepts interpretively.
