Course content
The themes include: New English Puritan literature, (Anne Bradstreet, Primer), rationalism and transcendentalism, romanticism (Poe, Hawthorne, Melville), psychological realism (James, Chopin) and naturalism (Norris, London), adventure novel (Twain), modernism (Faulkner), Lost generation, antiwar novel

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book)
Learning outcomes
The course will concentrate on particular works of American literature from its New English beginnings till the 20th century. Theoretical lectures are followed by practical seminars providing students with authentic texts, which can be used for a deeper knowledge of the subject as well us for a teaching practice.
