Course content
|
The fourth semester will focus on the following topics and techniques within Units 7-8: Grammar: permission, obligation, and necessity; perception and sensation advanced gerunds and infinitives; expressing future plans and arrangements Vocabulary: prefixes; art, colour idioms Listening: main and secondary stress; intonation and linking in exclamations; homophones Speaking: Interview; giving opinions; collaborative task and discussion; justifying an opinion Reading: gapped text, multiple matching, multiple choice Writing:essay; proposal; report

Learning outcomes
|
Practical English is taught in five semesters a provides students with practical language praparation necessary for the further study of English. The students will gradually and systematically build up their communicative competence in the target language to reach level C1 according to the CEFR. This practically oriented course aims at consolidating grammar and vocabulary and developing the four skills. The course is co-taught by a Czech teacher and a native speaker.

|
Oral examination, Essay, Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills, Test
All examinations and consultations are held in English. Active participation. A written test with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading (70%).
