Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on the differences between the English and Czech grammar systems on all linguistic levels - morphological, syntactic, lexical and stylistic. The emphasis is put on the practical acquisition of the following linguistic phenomena: Finite Verb-Forms, Non-Finite Verb Forms, Tenses, Simple Form, Progressive Form, Active Voice, Passive Voice, Moods, Auxiliary Verbs, Modal Verbs, Verb Patterns, Questions and Question-tags. The Seminar focuses on practical presentation of the grammatical structures on authentic texts and real-life situations. Grammar is practised in a wide range of activities such as games, discussions and problem solving.
Use grammar correctly in spoken and written form of communication while teaching English and in everyday communication.

Prerequisites
|
Basic ability to read grammar texts in English.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment, Systematic student observation, Student portfolio analysis, Test
All examinations and consultations are held in English. A written test with a 70% passmark, attendance 70%. Expanding a portfolio of ELT activities, games and exercises focusing on the English noun, adjective, adverb, and pronoun.
