1. General features of 1770-1856 culture and literature; 2. the characterisation and periodisation of the Czech Revival Period; 3. the period of Enlightenment, rationalism, classicism; 4. Dobrovský's generation; 5. the cultural concept of patriotic romanticism; 6.-7. Jungmann's generation (poetry, prose, drama); 8. subjective romanticism; 9. literary work of K.H. Mácha; 10. romanticism of Mácha's contemporaries; 11.-13. the characterisation of Biedermeier; Biedermeier in the works of J. K. Tyl., K. J. Erben and B. Němcová; 14. Havlíček's modification of the Revival model.

Learning outcomes
|
The lecture maps the changes in directions, styles, functions and genres in Czech literature of 1770-1856, especially in the context of European literature as a whole. It will focus on the diffusion of components of topical artistic styles in literary works and on the on the formation and modification of national model of culture and literature.
Broad survey of literature and main tendencies of this period and special literature. Ability of interpretation of crucial literary works.
