Overview of Chordates, their characteristics, classification and ekology: 1. Introduction to the Chordates zoology. 2. Cephalochordata, Urochordata. 3. Myxini, Petromyzontida. 4. Gnathostomata, Chondrichthyes. 5. Actinopterygii I. 6. Actinopterygii II, Actinistia, Dipnoi. 7. Amphibia. 8. Amniota, Lepidosauria. 9. Testudines, Archosauria. 10. Aves I. 11. Aves II. 12. Mammalia I. 13. Mammalia II. 14. Fundamentals of etology.

Learning outcomes
|
Characteristics and phylogeny of Chordates. Urochordata, Cephalochordata, Vertebrata. The basic course deals with morphology, anatomy, ecology, ethology, diversity and classification of vertebrates. Special attention is paid to biology of important species from the Czech and world fauna.
Students will get the necessary theoretically knowledge for the practical training course of zoology and transformation into the didactical system of education in science.

Assessment methods and criteria

Combined exam, Test, Development of laboratory protocols
Knowledge in fundamental zoological terms (morphology, functional anatomy of organ systems). The general orientation in the systematics of recent vertebrates. Biology of important taxa of the Czech and world fauna. Ecological and ethological adaptations of verebrates, their role in ecosystems.
