Course content
1. Folk music of Bohemia and Moravia 2. Middle Ages 3. Renaissance 4. Baroque 5. Classicism 6. Romanticism - National revival, Smetana, Fibich 7. Romanticism - Dvořák 8. 20th century - Suk, Novák 9. 20th century - Janáček, Martinů 10. 20th century - music in Terezín ghetto (Haas, Krása, Ulmann, Klein) 11. Czech popular music until the 2nd World War 12. Czech popular music between 1945-1968 13. Czech popular music after 1968

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Demonstration
Learning outcomes
The course will provide information about the most important processes, styles and personalities of Czech music since the Middle Ages to the 20th century (icluding popular and folk music) and comment its larger cultural and historical background.
Basic knowledge of history and personalities of Czech music

Minimum entry level of English: Pre-intermediate
