Didactics of German 4 completes the teaching of all didactic disciplines and builds on Introduction to Professional Practice III and IV and Didactics of German 1, 2 and 3. The focus of this semester is on theories of foreign language acquisition, teaching methods in a comprehensive overview, multilingualism, especially from the perspective of teaching German after English, learning strategies, the use of media and multimedia in teaching German, and the issue of games and motivation for learning German. All the topics discussed in this semester require already a rather informed didactic thinking and a good orientation in the basic topics of foreign language didactics. The aim of the course is to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired so far and to develop the students' didactical thinking in context.
After completing this course, students understand the factors that influence foreign language learning and the teaching process. They know the basic characteristics of the current post-communication period. They are able to effectively use the knowledge, skills and learning strategies students have acquired while learning English as a first foreign language. They are familiar with the current state of research in the field of foreign language didactics and have developed didactical thinking.
