Learning outcomes
Objectives The lessons in "Phonetics I" are divided into lectures and seminars. The aim of the lectures is to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations of the phonetic system of the German language, both with segmental and suprasegmental elements. Within the seminars, the correct pronunciation of individual sounds is practiced practically. The emphasis is also on practicing word and sentence accent, speech rate, pauses, rhythm and sentence intonation. Students will become familiar with the international phonetic transcription IPA / API. An important aspect of the course is also a contrastive comparison of the phonetic system of German and Czech. Lectures and seminars are held in German.
Learning achievements Upon completion of the course, students will be sufficiently familiar with the theory of the phonetic system of the German language at both the segmental and suprasegmental level. The use of the German spelling rules is consolidated. Students practice the correct pronunciation of German sounds in the spoken language. You will be able to transcribe words phonetically according to the international phonetic transcription IPA / API. Finally, they will practice the correct word and sentence accent, speech tempo, pauses, rhythm and sentence intonation. The students can compare the German and Czech sound systems.
