Course content
1. Modernism and expressionism 2. German written literature of Bohemia and Moravia 3. Literature of the Weimar Republic, proletarian literature 4. Interwar Austrian literature 5. Literature of the Third Reich 6. Exile literature 7. Anti-fascist literature 8. Literature in the post-war years 9. Literature in the GDR 10. Austrian and Swiss literature after World War II 11. German post-war literature 12. Tendencies in the literature after the year 2000 13. Literature and new media

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
Getting to know selected primary texts from German written literature of the 20th and 21st centuries from one's own reading. Expanding the reading competencies. Understanding the historical context and its implications for the present.
Ability to understand chosen literary texts of German written literature in the 20th and 21st century regarding contemporary contexts.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of German on level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Essay

All examinations and consultations are held in German. Seminar thesis.
