Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject "South Bohemia (art)-historical 1" is to introduce South Bohemia as an art(historically) very rich and Czech-German bilingual region. From an art-historical point of view, the focus will lie on the period from Romanesque to Baroque. By preparing particular projects during the term, the students will make themselves familiar with the technical jargon of history, art history and other humanities. Subsequently to previous training (content and language), short excursions to relevant institutions will be organised (e.g. Státní okresní archiv v Českých Budějovicích, Alšova jihočeská galerie v Hluboké nad Vltavou, Museum fotoatelier Seidel v Českém Krumlově) as well as work on particular practical projects (e.g. important art-historical periods or particular objects in České Budějovice and its surroundings). Block teaching on particular dates will be specified in advance; individual student funding of sightseeing trips and fare.
The students will get to know South Bohemia as a culturally and historically bilingual region, will make themselves acquainted with the cultural offerings of the region and will learn about important institutions. They will be able to find reliable sources and will establish contacts (institutions, events, persons). During the classes (seminars, excursions, particular projects - in groups or individually) the students will acquire or improve their German technical jargon (history, art history) and they will use it (passively and actively).
Prerequisites
The students speak German at least at A2 level.
