Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen knowledge about the relationship between culture and group and intrapsychic social processes. The basis of the course is the acquisition of intercultural psychological concepts and basic theses on the processes of cultural determination of the psyche (acculturation, enculturation, cultural norms and values, group identity) and their societal significance. The practical goal is to increase cultural sensitivity and understanding of cultural differences in the context of the social life of cultural groups and their integration into majority society. Significant space is devoted to the description of individual selected minority groups (in the Czech Republic and Europe) and to the analysis and critical evaluation of stereotypes about individual social groups. After completing the course, a student should know the basic concepts and starting theories of intercultural psychology, critically consider the context of cultural differences and similarities, and last but not least, be able to apply the acquired knowledge in intercultural situations (increasing intercultural competence).
